Worlds 2026: League of Legends World Championship Preview, October 15 – November 14

One of the biggest events on the esports calendar is almost here! From October 15 to November 14, the United States will host Worlds 2026, bringing together 19 of the world’s best League of Legends teams from six regions to compete for the biggest title of the season.

The tournament features representatives from South Korea, China, Europe, North and South America, and the Asia-Pacific region. Can the reigning champions defend their crown, or will a new challenger emerge? Let’s break down the biggest storylines with 888STARZ.

T1, Gen.G and Hanwha Life: Korea’s Giants Lead the Conversation

South Korea once again heads into Worlds with one of the strongest lineups of contenders.

Defending world champions T1, led by the legendary Faker, will be looking to extend their remarkable run on the international stage. But competition from their own region is fiercer than ever.

Hanwha Life Esports claimed the MSI 2026 title and currently lead Riot Games’ Global Power Rankings. Gen.G are also firmly in the championship conversation, sitting among the tournament’s leading contenders.

Can T1 deliver another legendary Worlds performance, or will another Korean powerhouse take the crown?

China and Europe: Who Can Challenge Korea?

The biggest threat to the Korean favorites traditionally comes from China’s LPL. Bilibili Gaming, Anyone’s Legend, TOP Esports and Invictus Gaming will represent the region in the United States.

Bilibili Gaming are particularly worth watching, having secured a place among the top three teams in Riot Games’ Global Power Rankings.

Europe will be represented by G2 Esports, Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp. For G2, this is another opportunity to prove that a European team can compete with Asia’s elite on the biggest international stage.

The big question: will Korean and Chinese teams maintain their dominance, or could Worlds 2026 produce an unexpected title contender?

Play-In: The First Eliminations Come Early

The championship opens with the Play-In stage in Los Angeles, where four teams will battle for just one spot in the next round.

Karmine Corp, Cloud9 and MVK Esports are among the participants, with the final team to be determined through the Brazilian qualifier.

Every series will be played in a best-of-five (Bo5) format. There is almost no room for error: only one team will advance to the main stage of the championship.

Worlds 2026: Tournament Schedule

  • October 15–18 — Play-In, Los Angeles.
  • October 23–31 — Swiss Stage, Allen, Texas.
