Uzbekistan Super League: Neftchi Lead, Pakhtakor Chase and a Big Test in Tashkent

Uzbekistan Super League Matchweek 22 is already under way. On September 17, Navbahor beat Dinamo Samarkand 3-2, while the main part of the round takes place from September 19 to 21.

The title race remains tight. Neftchi lead with 48 points, Pakhtakor are close behind on 46, while Navbahor have moved nearer to the top after winning their opening game of the round.

Lokomotiv, Bukhara, AGMK and Nasaf sit just behind the leading group.

Lokomotiv vs Neftchi — the leaders face one of the strongest home sides

The biggest remaining game of the round.

Neftchi arrive top of the table, while Lokomotiv sit fourth. The gap is significant — 48 points to 35 — but Lokomotiv have looked considerably stronger at home than away.

The first meeting between the sides this season ended in a 3-1 win for Neftchi.

Since then, Lokomotiv have improved and recently beat Mash’al 3-0. Neftchi, meanwhile, have gone through a much more turbulent spell, including a heavy 6-2 defeat to Nasaf before responding with a win over Surkhon.

For the league leaders, this is one of the toughest tests in the title race.

Mash’al vs Pakhtakor — second against bottom

The contrast in the table could hardly be greater.

Mash’al have collected just four points from 21 matches and remain bottom of the league. Pakhtakor have 46 and are firmly involved in the title race.

Pakhtakor won the reverse fixture 2-1, while recent head-to-head history also heavily favours the Tashkent side.

With Neftchi facing a difficult away match, this is the kind of fixture where Pakhtakor simply cannot afford to lose ground.

Andijan vs Nasaf — neighbours in the table

This is the most balanced of the main fixtures in terms of league position.

Nasaf sit seventh with 31 points, while Andijan are eighth with 30.

One point separates them, and a win for either side could move them much closer to the group immediately behind the league leaders.

Both have also produced uneven recent form. Nasaf have mixed emphatic wins — including 6-2 against Neftchi and 3-0 over Bunyodkor — with more inconsistent performances, while Andijan beat Kokand-1912 2-1 in the previous round.

This may not be part of the title race, but it matters a lot in a tightly packed middle of the table.

Two More Matches Worth Watching

Bunyodkor vs Bukhara

There is a big gap in the standings.

Bukhara are fifth with 34 points, while Bunyodkor sit 15th with 19.

The first meeting this season ended in a narrow 1-0 win for Bukhara. For the hosts, every point is now important in the battle near the bottom.

Sogdiana vs AGMK

This one is much tighter.

AGMK sit sixth with 32 points, while Sogdiana are tenth with 28. Only four points separate them, so one result could significantly reshape the middle of the table.
