Nations League Matchday 3 Results: England Hit Seven, Portugal Stay Perfect and 4 of 5 Preview Picks Land

Matchday 3 of the UEFA Nations League delivered plenty of noise.

England destroyed Croatia in Rijeka, Portugal made it three wins from three, Germany finally gave Jürgen Klopp his first victory, while Spain continued their perfect start.

And there is another reason to return to our pre-match preview.

We selected five fixtures and five match-winner picks from the 888STARZ line.

Germany, Portugal, England and Spain all won. France were held to a draw by Italy. Final score: 4 out of 5.

Here is how it happened.

Germany 2–0 Serbia: Klopp’s first win and a comfortable 1.19 winner

Before kick-off, the situation was pretty simple.

Germany had taken just one point from their first two games, Serbia had lost both, and another home slip would already have looked like a serious problem.

Our preview pick: Germany to win at 1.19 with 888STARZ.

This time, Germany finally played like the stronger side.

Tom Bischof opened the scoring after Florian Wirtz had hit the post, before Wirtz himself wrapped things up with a brilliant individual goal after the break.

2–0 — Germany’s first win under Jürgen Klopp, and our 1.19 pick lands.

Denmark 2–4 Portugal: the favourites pass their first serious test

In our preview, we pointed out that Denmark at home were a very different challenge.

Our preview pick: Portugal to win at 1.83 with 888STARZ.

And it really was a difficult game.

João Cancelo opened the scoring, Mikkel Damsgaard equalised, and Gonçalo Ramos restored Portugal’s lead before half-time.

Even after Denmark made it 2–2, Portugal did not lose control.

Vitinha scored the third before João Félix finished the job on the counter.

2–4 — Portugal make it three wins in a row, and our 1.83 pick lands.

France 1–1 Italy: the only miss from our five

Here we expected France to continue their perfect start.

Our preview pick: France to win at 1.46 with 888STARZ.

At first, everything looked good for the hosts.

Michael Olise curled a superb free-kick off the underside of the bar and into the net to put France ahead.

But Italy did not collapse.

Alessandro Bastoni punished a Lucas Da Cunha mistake to equalise, and France even finished with ten men after Dayot Upamecano was sent off late on.

1–1 — France drop points for the first time, and our 1.46 pick does not land.

Croatia 0–7 England: nobody saw this coming

We backed England to win, but seven goals in Rijeka were on another level entirely.

Our preview pick: England to win at 1.68 with 888STARZ.

Harry Kane opened the scoring, Jude Bellingham added another, and before half-time Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka had already turned the game into a rout.

England did not slow down after the break.

Kane completed his brace, Saka scored his second and Morgan Rogers made it seven.

0–7 — Croatia’s heaviest defeat ever and the most emphatic winner from our five picks. The 1.68 price lands with room to spare.

Spain 3–1 Czechia: Yamal strikes first again

There was very little uncertainty in the market here.

Our preview pick: Spain to win at 1.06 with 888STARZ.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring again — the third straight Nations League match in which he has scored Spain’s first goal.

Rodri made it 2–0, Czechia pulled one back, but after Ladislav Krejčí was sent off, any comeback hopes disappeared. Mikel Merino added the third.

3–1 — Spain start a Nations League campaign with three straight wins for the first time. The 1.06 pick lands.

Belgium 3–0 Türkiye: De Bruyne reminds everyone who is in charge

This match was not part of our five picks, but it was impossible to ignore.

Belgium needed a response after losing to France, and they got one.

Kevin De Bruyne scored twice — the second with a superb long-range strike — before Romelu Lukaku completed the win.

3–0 — Belgium are right back in the Group A1 race, while Türkiye remain pointless after three rounds.

Poland 6–0 Romania: Lewandowski takes the match ball home

Another result that simply had to be mentioned.

Poland picked up their first win of the campaign — and did it with a 6–0 demolition.

Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick, while Romania spent part of the game down to ten men.

After a goalless draw with Bosnia and a defeat to Sweden, Poland finally produced the attacking performance everyone had been waiting for.

Five matches, four winning picks.

But the biggest takeaway from Matchday 3 is not just our hit rate.

Portugal and Spain reached the halfway point of the group stage with perfect records. Germany finally won under Klopp. England answered their opening-round defeat with two straight victories — and the latest one was historic.

France, meanwhile, dropped points for the first time just when Italy needed a result most.

Half of the group stage is now gone. From here, every dropped point will cost more.
