Nations League Matchday 2 Results: Five Picks From Our Preview Land

Matchday 2 of the UEFA Nations League delivered plenty. Greece beat Germany for the first time ever, Italy responded to their poor start with four goals in Türkiye, Spain put on another show, while France snatched a late win in Brussels.

And there is one more reason to look back at our pre-match preview.

We highlighted five key fixtures and five match-winner picks from the 888STARZ line.

France, Italy, Sweden, Spain and England all won. Five picks, five winners.

Here is how they landed.

Belgium 0–1 France: our France pick lands in the 88th minute

Before kick-off, we noted that France looked better equipped to punish Belgium in transition, while their opening win over Türkiye had given them a solid start.

Our preview pick: France to win at 1.83 with 888STARZ.

It was anything but comfortable.

Désiré Doué hit the bar, Lucas Da Cunha struck the post and Belgium had chances of their own. The breakthrough finally came in the 88th minute.

Michael Olise picked up the ball deep inside his own half, carried it almost the length of the pitch and finished a brilliant solo run.

Final score: 0–1. Our 1.83 pick landed.

Türkiye 1–4 Italy: exactly the response Italy needed

After losing 2–0 at home to Belgium, Italy had to react.

Our preview pick: Italy to win at 2.44 with 888STARZ.

They did far more than that.

Alessandro Bastoni opened the scoring, Davide Frattesi made it 2–0 and Michael Kayode found the net on his senior debut.

Türkiye pulled one back after the break, but Pio Esposito quickly restored the three-goal cushion.

1–4 — the most comfortable winner among our five picks. Odds of 2.44 landed.

Sweden 3–1 Poland: the home attack delivers

Our preview focused heavily on Sweden’s attacking quality.

With Viktor Gyökeres and Alexander Isak up front, the hosts simply looked to have more ways to hurt Poland, who had started their campaign with a goalless draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Our preview pick: Sweden to win at 1.98 with 888STARZ.

Sweden went on to win 3–1, with Gyökeres among the scorers.

Another winner from the preview — 1.98 landed.

Spain 4–1 Croatia: the favourites leave no room for doubt

Spain carried the shortest price among our five selections, and there was a clear reason for it.

They had already beaten England 3–2 on Matchday 1 and had enjoyed the better of recent meetings with Croatia.

Our preview pick: Spain to win at 1.20 with 888STARZ.

It took less than two minutes for Lamine Yamal to open the scoring.

Croatia responded quickly, but Spain soon took control again. Marc Pubill restored the lead, Yamal completed his brace and Nico Williams wrapped things up late on.

4–1. Spain delivered comfortably, and the 1.20 price came in.

Czechia 0–2 England: first win after the Spain setback

After losing 3–2 to Spain at Wembley, England could not afford another slip.

That was why we sided with the visitors in our preview.

Our preview pick: England to win at 1.34 with 888STARZ.

Pavel Šulc’s first-half red card made the task easier, although England had to wait until after the break for the breakthrough.

Anthony Gordon converted a Trent Alexander-Arnold delivery before Harry Kane sealed the result late on.

0–2 — England pick up their first three points and our 1.34 selection lands.

Germany 0–1 Greece: the shock of Matchday 2

The biggest surprise came from a game that was not part of our five pre-match picks.

Germany and Greece had met ten times before this one. Greece had never won.

That changed in Augsburg.

With 15 minutes remaining, Dimitris Kourbelis fired from outside the area, the ball took a deflection and ended up in the net.

0–1 — Greece record their first-ever victory over Germany.

Norway 1–2 Portugal: Haaland scores, Ramos answers

Erling Haaland found the net again, but it was not enough to stop Portugal.

João Félix opened the scoring in the first half. Haaland equalised after the break, only for Gonçalo Ramos to punish an Ørjan Nyland mistake moments later and chip the goalkeeper from distance.

1–2 — Portugal remain perfect after two matches.

Five matches, five winning picks.

But Matchday 2 was about far more than the favourites doing their job. Greece produced a historic upset in Germany, France needed an 88th-minute winner, Italy bounced back in style and Spain now have seven goals from their opening two games.

The group stage is only getting started, but several groups already look far more interesting than they did a week ago.
