Serie A Matchweek 5 brings several games that could already reshape the top of the table. Roma and Inter meet after perfect starts, Juventus host an inconsistent Atalanta side, while Fiorentina try to build on their recent improvement against Napoli.

Roma vs Inter — 12 points against 12

The biggest game of the round and the first serious test for the two strongest teams of the opening weeks.

Roma and Inter have both won their first four Serie A matches and head into Saturday with 12 points from 12.

Roma beat Torino 2-0 last time out, while Inter produced a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to defeat Udinese 5-3.

Roma’s start has been built around balance. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have given opponents very little while quickly finding effective combinations in attack.

Inter have shown something different: even when a match starts badly, they still have enough quality to turn it around.

Juventus vs Atalanta — one side allows almost nothing, the other far too much

Juventus come into Sunday after their 5-0 Europa League win over NEC and now face an Atalanta side that has looked much less stable.

One stat tells the story particularly well: Juventus have allowed just 28 shots — the fewest in Serie A, while Atalanta have already faced 82 — the most in the league.

The Bergamo side have also lost their last two Serie A matches 2-1.

The gap in the odds is already significant. It reflects more than home advantage — the two teams have simply started the season at very different levels.

Fiorentina vs Napoli — a new spark in Florence

Fiorentina’s start was poor enough for the club to make an early coaching change.

Paolo Vanoli’s return has already had an effect. Fiorentina have won two straight matches and scored seven goals across them.

Their league position is still difficult, though. After four rounds, Fiorentina have only three points, while Napoli have six.

That makes this game more interesting than the table alone suggests. The home side’s form is changing quickly.
